The first season of Arab World's version of The Voice debuted on September 14, 2012 and was broadcast worldwide from Beirut, Lebanon studios of MBC 1, a Pan Arab television station. The format of the The Voice: Ahla Sawt will have three stages, which are the blind auditions, the battle rounds, and the live performances. If two or more coaches turn around for that singer, the singer gets to decide which team they want to join. Each coach will have select 12 singers to form their team from a group of 100 contestants. Once the blind auditions finish, the battle rounds will begin where the coaches will pair two singers on each team to compete against each other singing the same song on stage. The coaches will then have to decide which contestant will stay and which will be eliminated. After a series of eliminations, live performances will occur where the public can decide which singer will represent the Arab World as "The Voice."

The Housemates can visit the "Confessional" at any time during the day, either to talk to psychologists if they need to, talk to Big Brother, or to Nominate. The title is inspired by the George Orwell novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. The novel tells of a Big Brother, head of the totalitarian state of Oceania that constantly monitors its inhabitants via camera in an attempt to suppress their free will. The tag line of the novel is "Big Brother is watching you", which inspired the show, as it is Big Brother who now has total control over the situation in the House. The Housemates live in a House 24 hours a day, bugged by numerous cameras and microphones which capture their every move. Every week the Housemates participate in tasks that determine their food budget for that Week, or could even affect that week's Nominations. The overall goal is to survive to be the final surviving Housemate, and claim the prize fund.

The Voice: Ahla Sawt will have three stages, namely blind auditions, battle rounds, and live performances. During the blind auditions, each candidate will be allowed to sing for 90 seconds, with each of the coaches facing their backs to the singer. When a coach wants a singer on his team, he presses a red button that spins the chair to reveal who the singer is to that coach and the singer who joins his team. If two or more coaches show up for that singer, they decide which team they want to join. Each coach will have to select 12 singers to form their team from a group of 100 candidates. Once the blind auditions are complete, the battle rounds will begin, in which the coaches will pair two singers from each team to compete against each other by singing the same song on stage.

Big Brother México is a reality television series based on the international Big Brother format produced in the Netherlands by Endemol. Big Brother México was launched by Televisa in 2002. Before its debut, the idea of being watched twenty-four hours a day by a camera was shocking to some in Mexican society. The series was successful, and it was followed by a special edition called Big Brother VIP with Mexican celebrities from show business and even politics. Congressman Jorge Kahwagi, minority whip of the Mexican Green Party in the Chamber of Deputees of Mexico's Congress, shocked and angered many people in Mexico when he asked to be excused from his post in Congress to be sequestered for months inside the Big Brother House. Critics among colleagues and the general public accused him of dereliction of duty, discrediting his office, and seeking personal gain. During the show, late-night variety-show host, comedian, and producer Adal Ramones, also from Televisa, made a send-up of Big Brother which he called "El Gran Carnal" or "Big Bro" in Mexican slang. In December 2009, it was announced that there would be an "Allstars" version of Big Brother Mexico and that if it favors well with ratings, a possible fourth season will likely follow.
