Anya Beyersdorf

Anya Beyersdorf is an Australian actress-turned-writer/director born in Armidale, New South Wales. In 2014 she won an AWGIE Award - the Monte Miller Award for her screenplay Paradise at the Australian Writer's Guild Awards. In 2016, she was awarded one of four inaugural Lexus Australia Short Film Fellowships by the Sydney Film Festival. She was also a Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting Semi-finalist. Beyersdorf trained in acting and directing in the theatres of Berlin after winning the Marten Bequest Prize for Acting for 2008/2009, working under Bulgarian director Dimiter Gotscheff on the play The Powder Keg at Der Haus der Berliner Festspiele, as well as traveling and studying performance in Poland, Denmark and the USA. Beyersdorf was one of eight actresses who played the title character Angie in John Winter’s directorial debut feature film, Black & White & Sex. It was her second feature film, after Rats and Cats in 2007. Beyersdorf has acted in six short films, including playing the role of Emma in Emma and the Barista on ABC TV. She played the lead role in the Australian Film Commission short film Love’s Labour, which was nominated for a Dendy Award in 2007. She also played the role of Tamara in the short film Dugong, which was nominated for an Australian Film Institute Award in 2007.

Cops L.A.C. is a 2010 Australian television police drama, which screened on the Nine Network. The series followed the work of officers at the Seaview Local Area Command, a fictitious police response area of the 'State Police' set in harbourside Sydney, New South Wales. The first series premiered on 2 September 2010, in the same timeslot of Network Ten's police drama Rush. On 22 November 2010, the Nine Network cancelled the show due to the high production costs.

Canal Road is an Australian television drama series on the Nine Network. The series was produced in-house, under producer Susan Bower, in collaboration with writers Sarah Smith, John Ridley and Dave Warner, and directed by Kevin Carlin. It was filmed at Channel Nine’s GTV Studio 11 and on location in and around Melbourne. The series reportedly cost A$10 million to produce. The 13-part series went to air from 16 April 2008. The series debuted to mixed critical reception and only average ratings, which were further eroded when the series was moved to a later timeslot. Nine removed Canal Road from its schedules after the seventh episode, which drew in only 360,000 viewers; however the eighth episode was still made available online. Nine aired the remaining episodes during August and December 2008. Canal Road was released on DVD on 4 August 2008 in Australia.
