José Rosado, a U.S. citizen of Puerto Rican descent, flies to Madrid from Miami in 2021 for business and dinner with a friend. He stays at the luxurious Hotel Palace. He is married to a man but has an open relationship. After dinner, he decides to go out for drinks in the Chueca neighborhood, where he meets two other men and returns to his room with them.
