Después de aterrizar con su nave en un desierto, unos extraterrestres entregan al profesor Ralph Hinkley un traje que le confiere poderes especiales: volar, ver a través de las paredes o ser inmune a las balas. Pero Hinkley pierde el manual de instrucciones, así que no es infrecuente verlo volando torpemente y estampándose contra muros y paredes. Ralph quiere entregar el traje a las autoridades, pero un agente del FBI llamado Bill Maxwell que conoce el caso de los extraterrestres, le convence para que lo utilice contra el crimen con el fin de llevarse todo el mérito.
