Hace 2000 años, un ejército malvado llamada Bugnarak invadió la tierra e intentó acabar con la humanidad. Cinco valientes soldados aparecieron y se unieron a los poderosos Shugods, los espíritus guardianes del mundo para derrotarlos. Tras la victoria, los cinco se convirtieron en reyes y dividieron el mundo en cinco reinos para gobernar.
