La cantante de country Rayna James (Connie Britton) ha tenido una larga carrera que muchos envidian, pero ahora se encuentra en pleno declive. Aunque sus fans siguen asediándola para conseguir un autógrafo suyo, ya no llena estadios como antes. Esa es la razón por la que su empresa discográfica organiza una gira en la que Rayna estará acompañada por Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere), la nueva estrella de la música country. Pero esta unión pronto se convertirá en un arma de doble filo para ambas. Pero ahí no terminan sus problemas.
