Antoine Verlay, policía terco y un poco iracundo, entra en la OCBC (Oficina Central de la lucha contra el tráfico de Bienes Culturales), gracias a la influencia de su comandante Pardo, su amigo que, como resultado de este movimiento, se convierte en su jefe. Investigador excelente, pero ajeno a todo lo que tenga que ver con la cultura, Antoine va a tener que formar equipo con Florence Chassagne, historiadora del arte muy reconocida y con una imaginación desbordante.
