Una enorme nave alienígena con forma de cilindro conocida por los humanos como "la Campana", desciende un día sobre la Tierra. Militares de todo el mundo deciden hacerle frente, atacando con aviones y misiles del más poderoso calibre, pero sus esfuerzos son en vano, debido a que sus misiles son vaporizados como por arte de magia antes de inflinglir daño a la nave.
