世の中の空を撮影したいという夢を追うカメラマン・楓と30歳目前の美容師・夏樹の友情から恋へ変化していく心模様を描く。夏樹は’99年が幕開けする瞬間を、女3人で北海道のホテルにて迎えようとしていた。同じホテルには、ニューイヤー花火の撮影のために泊まり込んでいた新聞社勤務の楓らがいた。夏樹と楓は、部屋の外に締め出されるという同じ失敗をして出会う。
