西暦2050年。月面で突如起こった大地震により、その裂け目から月に空気が生まれ、同時に地球並みの重力も発生した。やがて人々は月へ移民し、町が形成されていった。 それから半世紀後の西暦2100年。町内の福引きで月旅行を当てた少年、遙大地は月で自作のジェットボードで飛ばすも迷子になり、その途中、オルゴールの音色で忽然と現れたグリグリに遭遇する。突然のことで混乱し彼女の住処に転がり込んでしまう。そこにいた彼女の祖母である大魔法使い「V-メイ」から自分達が耳なが族と呼ばれる種族であることを告げられる。そこへ、彼らと敵対する「邪動族」の攻撃が。言われるままに「魔動機」の一つ「魔動銃」を使い耳なが族に伝わる魔動王「グランゾート」を召喚する大地。戸惑いながらもグランゾートとともに尖兵「ヘルメタル」を撃破。偶発的に魔動力を発揮。メイは大地こそが邪動族と戦える「魔動戦士」だと言う。武者修行中の少年ガスと耳なが族の少年ラビを加え、彼らは邪動帝国の手に落ちたラビルーナと聖地ルナを解放する旅に赴くことになる。
