Идея реалити-шоу состоит в том, что несколько людей, называемых «хозяевами» или «гостями», живут вместе в специально созданном большом доме. В течение всего времени они изолированы от внешнего мира и не полностью посвящены в происходящее за его пределами, не имеют доступ к электронным устройствам. За участниками постоянно следят телекамеры установленные в доме, а также личные микрофоны, обязательные для ношения во время съемок. Участникам позволено иметь сексуальные контакты во время шоу. Каждый сезон длится не менее трех месяцев. Минимальное число участников проекта — 10. Чтобы выиграть финальный денежный приз, участник должен пройти еженедельные голосования и стать последним из «хозяев» на этом проекте.
