Нина Праудман работает акушером в местной больнице. Она постоянно оказывается в неудобном положении. Мало того что ей приходится вникать в проблемы сестры, брата и отца, так еще и бывший муж продолжает назойливые ухаживания. В больнице Нине тоже постоянно приходится кого-нибудь утешать и успокаивать, потому что будущие мамы нервничают, а будущие отцы нередко идут на конфликт по пустяковым поводам. К тому же Нине хотелось бы и в своей личной жизни навести, наконец, порядок.
