В небольшую деревню Емелька прибывает дракон Гругалорагран с коляской, в который спит младенец Юго. Он находит подходящего для отцовства человека — Альберта, который как раз решает бросить приключения и обосноваться в деревне. Гругалорагран оставляет ему сообщение о том, что когда мальчик вырастет и его «сила» проявится, Альберт должен будет поспособствовать его отправке на поиски своей семьи. Через 12 лет у Юго появляется способность к открытию порталов, и он отправляется в путь, заручившись поддержкой старого приятеля Альберта Руэля, отважного рыцаря Перседаля, принцессы Садида Амалии и её телохранителя Евангелин.
