Выслеживая браконьеров в пограничном поселке, сотрудница финской полиции Нина Каутсало обнаруживает в заброшенном доме тело избитой и изнасилованной женщины в коме. Жертва оказывается не единственной – Нина доказывает появление серийного убийцы, преследующего иностранных проституток. При дальнейшем обследовании в теле пострадавшей обнаруживают крайне редкий и опасный вирус. На место событий приезжает немецкий вирусолог Томас Лоренц. Объединившись с Ниной, он ищет тех, кто несет ответственность за распространение инфекции.
