1984-й. Провинциальный польский городок потрясён двойным убийством: в лесу с перерезанными глотками обнаружены молодая проститутка и глава городского спорткомитета. Милиция быстро находит козла отпущения и заминает дело. Но репортеры газеты «Вечерний курьер» — циник Витольд и вчерашний студент журфака Петр — обнаруживают несостыковки.
