Сериал основан на одноимённом бестселлере Жана-Кристофа Гранже. Детектив Ньеманс и его новая напарница Камилль Делоне расследуют серии жутких преступлений в отдалённых районах Франции. Все эти дела объединяет шокирующая жестокость, с которой были совершены убийства. Такие расследования не под силу местной полиции и позволяют узнать немного больше об истории Франции и местной культуре и верованиях.
