Цукаса очнулся в подземелье ММОРПГ под названием «Мир», вдобавок у него временная потеря памяти. Он не помнит как оказался в игре и что делал ранее. Не желая ни с кем общаться, Цукаса избегает других игроков. При этом только он, по неизвестной причине, не может выйти из игры. В поисках ответов он возвращается в подземелье, где из сундука достаёт предмет в виде плиты, который обещает позаботиться о нём и защитить от зла. На помощь приходит Субару, лидер ордена «Багровых Рыцарей», вместе с несколькими другими игроками, которые познакомились с Цукасой. Субару решила расследовать, почему Цукаса не в состоянии выйти из системы, и попытаться добраться до сути проблемы, прежде чем ситуация выйдет из-под контроля.
