Сериал по романам Бернарда Корнвелла. Ричард Шарп родился в июле 1777 года недалеко от Ховик Плейс, Вестминстер, Лондон. Его отец неизвестен, а мать была проституткой и умерла в июне 1780, когда Ричарду было 3 года. Его отдали в приют, откуда он сбежал в возрасте 9 лет и 7 лет скитался по лондонским трущобам. В шестнадцать лет он убил человека и бежал в Йоркшир, спасаясь от петли палача.
