City on a Hill

Boston, 1993. No one gets away clean.

In early 90s Boston, an African-American District Attorney comes in from Brooklyn advocating change and forms an unlikely alliance with a corrupt yet venerated FBI veteran invested in maintaining the status quo. Together they take on a family of armored car robbers from Charlestown in a case that grows to encompass and eventually upend Boston’s city-wide criminal justice system.

"City on a Hill" (2019), a gripping crime drama series produced by Pearl Street Films and The Levinson/Fontana Company, unfolds in the gritty backdrop of 1990s Boston. The show masterfully intertwines the lives of a corrupt yet charismatic FBI agent, Jackie Rohr, and an idealistic Assistant District Attorney, Decourcy Ward. Their uneasy alliance forms the crux of the narrative as they tackle systemic corruption and racial tensions within the city. The series, set against the backdrop of a city struggling with its own moral compass, offers a raw and unflinching look at the battle between justice and power. The show's meticulous attention to detail and authentic portrayal of the era's cultural and political climate add depth and realism, making it more than just a crime drama but a social commentary on the American urban experience. In essence, "City on a Hill" stands out as a testament to the power of storytelling in television.
