Trong lúc sống trong cộng đồng người Việt tị nạn ở miền Nam California, anh tiếp tục theo dõi tình hình và báo cáo lại cho cấp trên ở Việt Nam, trong lúc phải đối mặt với những mâu thuẫn giữa lý tưởng ban đầu và cuộc sống mới.
