《老大哥》（美国版，以下简称美版）是一档美国真人秀节目，改编自制作人小约翰·第摩尔于1997年创造的荷兰同名电视节目[1] 。 在本节目中，一群年龄、职业、家庭背景......等不同的人（称为房客）会共同住在一间特殊设计的房子，他们没有任何联络工具及方法，与外界完全隔离。 这些房客将透过每周的比赛及淘汰来决定最终的赢家，获胜者可以获得五十万美金（第二十三季为七十五万美金）。本节目的名称取自乔治·欧威尔的小说《1984》，因节目组甚至观众可透过屋中的摄影机监视房客的一举一动，犹如书中的老大哥而得此名。本节目在2000年的七月五日甫首播虽获得极大成功，但却不断地遭受负面评价及大众批评，导致节目在第二季时规则大改，变得更具竞争性。《老大哥》一直以来便是CBS旗下的热门节目，也为继《老大哥西班牙版》后，现今世界各地的《老大哥》中第二长寿的改编版本。
