金属英雄系列特摄剧的第12作，因前作的失败，东映放弃了团体路线，走回了单体英雄的风格，并再次回归传统的英雄VS怪物的路线，本作的主角是机械人，无人间体，前期甚至没有固定的人类角色登场，在东映作品中属于风格相当特别的异色作，而本片中更是使用了3组恶役的格式，新基路特、超级科学网络以及带刀集团，而3组恶役的BOSS也都是有过特摄演出经验的人：高桥和兴（电击战队，超人机）、高畑淳子（假面骑士BLACK RX）、菅田俊（假面骑士ZX）。本作在周边贩卖和收视方面都有所提高在当年也获得了相当的人气，而后期登场的固定女主角川嶋朋子则在日后演出了GAIA和NEXUS两部奥特曼作品。
