故事时间背景设定为宇宙历6998年（根据吉冈平小说原著中的设定，得知这相当于西元8990年），我们那有点秀逗的主人公Tylor受到“可爱”宇宙军征兵广告的影响来到征兵处。然而让他真正加入宇宙军的原因是……军队这种地方吃饭不要钱；制服和生活日常用品全部都不要钱；又不用担心房钱，要取的各种执照也容易；再加上搭乘宇宙战舰的话，到达敌方以前可以整天睡在冷气密封仓里；工作的时候还是坐着，真是没有比这更轻松的工作了。
