《时效警察》是一部日本推理类喜剧。故事讲述的是在警察局时效管理课工作的雾山修一郎以侦破已经过了时效的案件为自己的兴趣，并试图找到案件真相的故事。2006年播出《时效警察》之后，这个不修边幅奇形怪状，却总是用惊人的智慧去解决一个个“时效已过的案件”的时效警察，获得了观众的广泛喜爱和支持，剧情诙谐逗趣剧情妙趣横生，人物又能不断制造出各种笑点。2007年，全部原班人马再造经典，拍摄了时效警察第二部。邋遢的主角雾山修一朗又和他的美女搭档三日月静一起，遇到了许多时效已过的案件，并一个个把它们解决。
