体育万能但讨厌学习，性格鲁莽但具有强烈正义感，在女孩子中非常受欢迎的美墨渚，成绩优秀，个性沉稳但偶尔有点迷糊天然呆的雪城穗乃香，两人只不过是就读贝洛尼学院的普通中学二年级学生。 有一天，一颗流星坠落到渚的家，同时穗乃香也在家仓库中发现了一样奇怪的东西。在两人面前出现了非常奇妙的生物，来自光之园的梅普鲁和米普鲁，因为邪恶的闇之领域袭击了他们俩的故乡・光之园，并抢走了五块光棱石，因而他俩带着剩下的两块光棱石逃到虹之园来。 于是渚和穗乃香俩人被梅普鲁和米普鲁赋予神奇的力量，携手变身成为了“光之美少女”。为了拯救光之园，兴趣和性格都不相同的两个人开始为了夺回光棱石与来自闇之领域的邪恶敌人展开战斗。
