学资驽钝的普通高中生三郎（小栗旬饰）突然穿越到了1549年（天文18年）的战国时期。遇上了逃离织田家的织田信长本人。两人外表神似，在织田信长本人请托下，三郎替代了体弱病虚的他，以“织田信长”的名号登上历史的舞台。 手握现代历史教科书的三郎，因有著历史不当改变的认识，误以为织田信长曾经统一日本，而起了一统天下的雄心壮志，但因讨厌历史科，理解意愿薄弱，性格随意，误打误撞下将织田家推向高峰之际，却让原有的历史似乎走上了轨道。
