Belgian psychiatrist Bert Dewulf is send to the borderland between Flanders and Zeeland in the Netherlands to take care of the girl. In the mean time Tara Dessel, a Dutch police officer of Surinamese origin and new to the area, investigates a shooting on a little ghost ship on the banks of the Westerschelde.
