此剧讲述两个性格不同的苏格兰人兄弟Max及Jake，某夜他们从婚礼现场驾车回家时，不小心在漆黑的街道上撞死了个老人，惊慌失措的他们决定掩饰自己的过失。然而死者的邻居和亲属皆怀疑老人的死另有内情，这使得Max及Jake的生活开始土崩瓦解，而且内疚感、秘密使他两无法再信任任何人。
