Die Lillian-Akademie ist eine katholische Schule für Mädchen im Oberschulalter. An dieser Schule kommt das sogenannte Sœurs-System zum Einsatz, bei dem eine Schülerin im zweiten oder dritten Jahr zur »Grande Sœur« (»große Schwester«) für ein Mädchen des ersten Jahrgangs wird und dieser fortan als Gesellschaft und Leitfigur zur Seite steht; das jüngere Mädchen wird als »Petite Sœur« bezeichnet. Dank des Systems muss auch weniger Aufwand betrieben werden, das Einhalten der Schulregeln und der entsprechenden Etikette durchzusetzen. Der Yamayuri-Rat ist der Schülerrat dieser Akademie und in drei Fraktionen unterteilt, dessen oberste Mitglieder allgemein einfach als »Rosen« bezeichnet werden. Generell erfreuen sich die Ratsmitglieder großer Beliebtheit, da bildet auch Sachiko Ogasawara, Schülerin des zweiten Jahrgangs, keine Ausnahme.
