Afortunadamente para él, cuenta con la incondicional ayuda de Sharona (Bitty Schram), su enfermera, que es quien le ayuda tanto para poder enfrentarse a la vida diaria como en los casos que tienen en jaque a la policía. Su ex-jefe, por mucho que le pese, acude a Monk en muchas ocasiones para que aporte una visión alternativa, ya que sus neurosis le ayudan a desentramar crímenes aparentemente irresolubles desde una perspectiva distinta.
