Emma, Cleo y Rikki son tres chicas que crecen en una localidad de la costa Australiana. Emma es una joven deportista, Cleo es ingenua y Rikki, la nueva, es una chica inteligente. Un día en que las chicas están navegando, llegan accidentalmente a la misteriosa isla de Mako, donde terminan atrapadas en una vieja gruta bajo un volcán.
