Un día normal como cualquier otro, todos se dirigen a sus trabajos con prisas y agobios. Transcurrida parte de la mañana, más de una decena de personas se acumulan en las distintas filas de una sucursal bancaria en pleno centro de la ciudad para hacer sus gestiones. De repente, un grupo de personas armadas entra y toman por la fuerza el banco. 52 horas después son liberados nueve rehenes: el resto ha muerto en el asalto. Estas nueve personas nunca serán las mismas... Durante esas 52 horas, estas nueve personas quedan unidas para el resto de sus vidas por el lazo de unión que crearon, pero se guardan para ellos diversos secretos sobre lo que verdaderamente pasó allí dentro. Los únicos que son capaces de entender lo que ellos han vivido son sus amigos que estaban allí con ellos. En cada episodio se va viendo la vida supuestamente normal que hacen esas nueve personas después del secuestro y, a base de flash-backs, otros 10 minutos de sucesos que pasaron dentro del banco... y ver el por qué estos nueve extraños aún siguen unidos. La serie emitida por la ABC sólo duró una temporada, cancelada por su baja audiencia.
