Estocolmo, 1933. El científico alemán Werner Heisenberg recibe el Premio Nobel de Física y es felicitado por su mentor, el también Premio Nobel Niels Bohr. Nadie sospecha que es el inicio de una carrera frenética por parte del régimen nazi para desarrollar la bomba atómica. En plena Segunda Guerra Mundial, los Aliados tratarán desesperadamente de impedirlo.
