Adaptación televisiva de la saga de películas Hora punta. Este proyecto está co-escrito por Bill Lawrence, quien también se encarga de la producción ejecutiva. En esta labor, se suman Brett Ratner y Arthur Sarkissian, el director y el productor respectivamente, de la película original. Este ‘reboot’ se suma a la franquicia de Hora punta, que con su primera película, estrenada en 1998, alcanzó un éxito inesperado, y desde entonces ha recaudado con esta saga más de 845 millones de dólares en todo el mundo. La trama original gira en torno a un estoico agente de policía de Hong Kong que es asignado para un caso en Los Ángeles, donde se ve obligado a trabajar con un oficial de policía negro muy engreído que no muestra ningún interés por su nuevo compañero.
