Hampus, un huérfano que vive con su tío zapatero, llega al pueblo donde reside circunstancialmente Fía, hija de una profesora de piano, quien tiene como tesoro más preciado una piedra blanca. Fia y Hampus pertenecen a clases sociales muy distintas, pero compensan esa diferencia con su fantasía en la que cada uno de ellos realiza diferentes hazañas: estar un día entero sin hablar, encontrar un tesoro, sacar un león de un circo.
