В снежной Швеции скоро наступит Рождество, и психолог Ингер Юханне Вик вместе с ее аутичной дочкой оказываются втянуты в расследование череды жестоких убийств, и тогда она знакомится с детективом Ингваром Нюманном, которого направили в Уппсалу для расследования убийства епископа Элизабет Линдгрен. Но в Стокгольме продолжают находить тела, и Ингер Юханне замечает нечто схожее в казалось бы разных преступлениях — совсем скоро начинаются поиски убийцы.
