时间管理局是一个自治且神秘的政府机构，直接听命于政府最高负责人。只有国王，首相以及极少数人知道。去往其它时代需要通过由政府巡逻队守卫的一道门。其目的是检查和阻止任何对过去的侵入影响我们目前生活或相反的行为，这些行为多是为了一己私欲而利用历史。为此，巡逻队需要去往过去，并阻止它们的发生。
