¡La felicidad doméstica nunca fue así!

En "Matrimonio con hijos" se parodiaba la familia norteamericana de los años 80: un marido al que poco le importaba su familia; la señora, una impulsiva compradora; la hija, que era el estereotipo de "rubia sexy y tonta"; y el hijo, un perdedor que busca ser atractivo. Posteriormente se unirían a la familia Seven, un hijo adoptado. Los Bundy viven en Chicago y, aunque no podría afirmarse que se aprecien particularmente, siempre se mantienen juntos. Tal y como el mismo Al Bundy explica: "Amor, odio... mira, somos una familia, ¿cuál es la diferencia?". Su convivencia, y la relación con sus vecinos, una pareja de recién casados idealistas y poco conscientes de la realidad del matrimonio, fue el punto de partida para una de las series más sarcásticas, desvergonzadas y cáusticas de la historia de la televisión norteamericana.
